71. Thus, as at 1 November 2010, the number of States parties to the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961 as amended by the 1972 Protocol16 remained at 184. Two States, namely Afghanistan and Chad, continued to be parties to the 1961 Convention in its unamended form. 17 A total of eight States had yet to accede to the 1961 Convention: one State in Africa (Equatorial Guinea), one in Asia (Timor-Leste) and six in Oceania (Cook Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Samoa, Tuvalu and Vanuatu).
